Katie Plax designed, created and hired staff in partnership with leadership from Project ARK and the Pediatric Infectious Disease Team to create a one-stop youth center that provides health and social services to young people 13-24. In the summer of 2008 the project was named The SPOT (Supporting Positive Opportunities with Teens) and funding was secured to open the facility in the fall of 2008. They created an adolescent community partnership group to support this work with several youth-serving organizations, and the city, county and state health departments.
