Apply to become a Clinton Global Initiative University volunteer

Beginning Jan. 16, students can apply to be a volunteer during the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U), to be held at Washington University in St. Louis April 5-7, 2013.

CGI U will draw 1,200 young leaders from WUSTL and around the world to discuss solutions to pressing global issues. The success of this large-scale endeavor will depend on several hundred enthusiastic and willing volunteers.

Only WUSTL undergraduate, graduate and professional, and University College students are eligible to apply as volunteers.

Volunteers will work during CGI U events from Friday afternoon through Saturday and should be willing to commit at least 12 hours of time.

Volunteer roles include: serving as on-campus hosts and ushers; assisting with the production and logistics of the event; helping CGI staff with press and media; and supporting CGI’s program staff.

Students with skills in photography, video and social media are encouraged to apply. In addition to working Friday and Saturday, volunteers are required to attend two evening training sessions April 1 and 4.

Volunteers should not anticipate having insider access to CGI U sessions. Also, students who are applying to participate in CGI U as attendees should refrain from also applying to be a volunteer.

The volunteer application will be available online at the CGI U website at www.cgiu.org from Jan. 16 and is due by Feb. 8. CGI U will notify volunteers of acceptance and positions in mid-February.
